I do know one...

Perfectly nice guy.  Charming.  Funny.  Real ladies' man.

When his wife left him for another man (they had an open marriage, both had others on the side) and filed for a divorce, I found him sitting down doing a cost analysis, and debating whether it would be more advantageous to kill her and get rid of the body.  He had a plan, and, near as I can tell, it COULD have worked.  It occurred to me, as he was debating, that it would work... except for the pesky witness he was using as a sounding board.

Fortunately, she didn't take a shot at getting a bite of his military pension, but...  scared the hell out of me.

If Luna was a furry, she'd sex humans and scream "BEASTIALITY!" at the top of her lungs at inopportune times.

There's also Dickhead Pickle, if we're talking about people who are completely gross and vile.

"Kids whose parents can't work three jobs and teach them deserve what they get," and all that.

I don't even think he's a sociopath, to tell the truth... just damaged and stuck in a really shitty loop.

I've only ever met one sociopath in person, and she is fucking terrifying, not least because it took me close to seven years to realize it. She's not one of my friends, but a friend of a friend. Actual sociopaths are really frightening, and often don't exhibit the kinds of antisocial behavior that people consider earmarks for sociopathy. Which actually makes it that much more irritating/frustrating to me when people use antisocial behavior to try to get attention or to make people think they're cool/edgy/special. People with antisocial personality disorder ARE special; they're fortunately fairly rare. It's just that it's the kind of special that needs to be avoided like you would avoid West Nile virus.

Same thing? Just asking cos it kinda makes the post read different if they aren't.

Yes, it was recategorized and renamed some years ago but the terms can be used interchangeably.

Also, I think many people get psychopathy and sociopathy confused. A person with antisocial personality disorder may have much in common with a psychopath, but they are not the same thing. They have overlap, but psychopathic personality disorder is a different, much rarer, diagnosis than antisocial personality disorder. Luka Magnotta is probably a psychopath. It's unlikely that anyone here is a sociopath, but it's not unlikely that some of the people who have come and gone again, especially those who seem to have a hard time grasping the concept that other people are valid individuals in their own right and not abstractions, may conceivably have been. We'll never know.

I don't see sociopathy here.  What I see could be better classified as "poor comedic timing combined with simple lack of manners."

I find precious AND hilarious that someone thinks they can use postings on a message board to determine whether or not someone is a sociopath.

I'm tending to agree with this.

But I do occasionally see sociopathic behavior or acts, which isn't precisely the same thing as someone being an outright sociopath.  Well, that's not entirely accurate...What I occasionally see, what I'm talking about (not all that recently, though) is aggressive attempts at apathy..."I'm too jaded to care", or "I can't be arsed to give a shit.", which I think is more of an attempt at a cultivated persona more than an actual statement of belief.  It's creeping Pinkboyism, which can happen to the best of us if we're not vigilant.

This should not be confused with Horrormirth, which is more of a "laugh so I don't scream" reaction, and an indicator that the person DOES care.

Speculating about people, given that this clearly has ties to the Armstrong/joke fiasco.  I just think it's a little far-fetched.

RWHN,
Speculating

I made it pretty clear early on in the thread that the topic was inspired by some of the antisocial behavior I've seen lately, but that I don't think anyone here is a sociopath.

But since that's not consistent with your agenda, you ignored it.
