"Billy, when I say that ethics is our number one priority and safety is also our number one priority, you should take that to mean exactly what I said. Also quality. That's our number one priority as well. Don't look at me that way, you're in the corporate world now and this is how it works."
- TGRR, raising the bar at work.

The placebo effect is very much a part of how many of these things "work". My rule of thumb is, HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? It should not most much, unless you find spending money on NOTHING therapeutic.

I think I love this guy.

That's the industry. They all do that. I could do that if I so desire. I could.make a KILLING if I had the stomach for it. I found out a long time ago that I don't.

Its important to understand that when these things first came to America, and most other places, they were limited to the Jet Set crown, for the most part. People with money. The industry is built upon the bones of rich cancer patients.

Master Zink and his wife Maria, in front of their palatial home/dojo.

Maria, having just used the techniques she learned from Master Zink, defeats Montana.

Oh Jesus, everyone in my building can hear me cackling. Can't breathe, Jesus.

Who wants to bet that Master Sink doesn't have much of a sense of humor?

This kind of this applies to so much shit. I've always said if I ever found myself homeless and completely fucked I'd just find the nearest bars and cold read the shit out of anyone who's there. Rinse and repeat till I'm back on my feet.

I wouldn't feel good about it, but I'd rather not sleep in a box.

EVERYBODY SAY HEY, GIRL!

If you see this in real life, YOU'RE ALREADY DEAD.

Mrs Smith's "early bird" cheque bounced.  So sad.  Master Zink hates having to be this way.

We don't recomment that...WHAT THE FUCK?

Master Zink actually kicks through the Earth's crust.

None, if any bullshit free alternatives are available.

I'm just saying, if you can bullshit me into thinking I'm on morphine and I don't have to deal with the morphine withdrawal later, I'll totally accept that flavor of bullshit. Likewise, if you can bullshit me into cleaning my house that's probably going to be more effective than waiting for logic and reason to work.

What flavors of bullshit are those? You seem to be talking about things that don't actually exist, as opposed to what we were talking about, which is things that do.
"I'm guessing it was January 2007, a meeting in Bethesda, we got a bag of bees and just started smashing them on the desk," Charles Wick said. "It was very complicated."

You can taper off a morphine drip to almost nothing and as long as you don't tell the patient the placebo effect will keep the pain under control (in many cases). I had a psychiatrist put me on fish oil for depression and I'm pretty sure the actual pills didn't do shit but my mood improved like crazy within days. Some folks have also used Feng Shui as a way to trick themselves into keeping their house clean (not one that worked for me). I know there's a huge gap between basic placebo lying and full on crazy nutjobbery, I just get defensive because I like my low-grade bullshit. Alty's point about cost is totally right, a placebo should never be that expensive.

Cain

You can actually tell people they are taking placebos and the placebo effect will still take place.

Mesozoic Mister Nigel

The placebo effect isn't bullshit, it's a biological response. Understanding the response doesn't stop it from happening.

You guys are totally gonna pay for upstaging Master Zink.
