There does need to be an intermittens.magazine@gmail.com or something address.  I would suggest only a couple of the editors have access though (after the President Bush spammer, it would be stupid to do otherwise).

And you could post the email address as intermittens dot magazine at gmail dot com (or whatever it will be).  I don't think robots can yet read that as an email address (I hope not).

Or they could fucking pull up their panties and fucking register here.

Fuck.

I doubt anyone here will seriously object to getting non-PD.commies to contribute to Intermittens.

How can they submit without joining? Some people are pretty scared of this place....

Oh young little Erisian,
or disciple of Mal's,
don't be scared of this place
just because we tip Chao's

Or because we have TGRR
or a HIMEOBS Bomb
Those are just here
to keep kids off the lawn

Don't fear discord dear kiddies,
don't be frightened or scared,
come join the PDians
just... Be Prepared.

Fuck.

If they have to do that, then you end up with "Intermittens is ONLY for PDers."  No one else allowed to contribute.  Just sayin'.

Rococo Modem Basilisk

It's not as though they can't simply mail submissions to someone already ON PD.

That, or we set up an intermittens blog, and then publicize the supersekritblogpostingemailaddy in the back of the intermittens PDFs, then somebody subscribes to the rss feed for the blog.

I am not "full of hate" as if I were some passive container. I am a generator of hate, and my rage is a renewable resource, like sunshine.

Cramulus

the original idea was that you can post stuff, and tag it INTERMITTENS on delicious.com. Nobody did that so I stopped checking. But if somebody bumps me to check the INTERMITTENS tags, that's probably the best way to submit stuff without creating any new structure.

all this about having an e-mail address and a blog is quite good, now that we have intermittens.org - actually I'm not so sure about the e-mail address. It'd be nice for receiving letters to the editor, etc, but with a central front-door we look a lot less like an "anyone can do it" magazine and more like a hierarchy where we have this council of editors that decides what the magazine is about.

I want it to be clear that this is everybody's magazine and that every discordian is encouraged to make it for themselves... I don't want it to appear like this is a PD.com project, but most of the group discussion IS going to happen at PD.

but let's be clear here - you're asking how your friends can participate in PD threads without participating in PD... it's complicated! If they want to contribute to issues that are being produced by the PD crowd but don't want to interact with PD, have them send stuff through you.

Well, to put my 2 cents in, WTF is wrong with intermittens being wriiten, edited and published by PDers.  THAT has nothing to do with who reads it.  The idea evolved here, was grabbed up and run with into the first issue here, it has been members here who have done everything so far, what's wrong with that?

If someone wants to eat a Big Mac they have to go to McDonalds to get one.  They can't sit across the street and ask "Please sir, can't I have a burger?  I'm scared to go into McDonalds"  FUCK THAT!

I think if they want to contribute to intermittens then they need to join PD.  If they are scared, then they should limit their activity on the board to intermittens only.

As for reading it, hell we don't give a flying fuck who all reads it!

Also, I am more than happy to host intermittens.org on my server. Plenty of space...

That sounds like a great idea to me. And Ratatosk and Cramulus (who I think created this idea--right?) are both known for working with others and not attacking someone because they happen to be wearing the wrong color hat.

Telarus

I'd ask them to just browse over, read only the Intermittens threads... and then ask themselves wtf they're scared of.

I can understand our egregore comes off as slightly intimidating, what with all the shrapnel jutting out of it's shoggoth-like corpus. The strange pipping and gibbering laughter doesn't have to be the PD.com that they approach, tho.

Have them read Verrwirrrung for a while.. Sign up and LURK for a while. Get to know the rhythm and tempo of the jokes and memebombs. [This gives me an idea, we should have a Current Events type thread stickied for lurkers to follow.]

Unless it's a puce hat.

Puce hats set them off somethin' fierce.

WTF?  What do you care who reads it?  I sent the link to the last to probably 100 different people.  Was I supposed to ask permission first?  Are you really going to go this route?  Let's hold people hands and make them all comfy so everything is picture perfect and we all shit rainbows?

If you want a say so in who reads intermittens then you need to speak up fast.  I'm sure I am not the only one who sent it around.

Also, if my opinion is so distasteful and this is gonna be the new discordian "people" let me know as well, because I seriously misunderstood the point.

I have no problem removing my involvement completely!  I understand you started this idea Cram, but I thought it had become a group effort.  The group being members of PD.  When did that change?

I think he was just saying that he cares about people reading it... not that he cares about limiting readership.

That's what I was saying as well.  We don't care WHO reads it.

Nothing, but it should't be limited to people here. Really this has become the natural centre to do things for it, but it doesn't mena that it HAS to be a "PD" project.

This isn't about buying burgers. To continue the metaphor you use, this is about MAKING burgers. And I wouldn't go into a McDonalds kitchen either.

Why? We have many many other channels open to us. E Mail, other forums, IRC to name a few.

And just because each issue of Intermittens so far has contained largely PD material, what about someone who wants to create something that contains none?

They create it and send it on to someone more involved with the project for editing or whatever and we'll publish it. Sounds good to me.

I don't care who reads it either. Just as long as it isn't ONLY PD'ers.

We already have the board for in-house circle jerks.
