Some say it's you. Some say it's society. Both are to blame. True reason for your misery is somewhere on between. Society is formed out of people. And people are nurtured by society. The problem is the way you treat society. And how the society treats you. Society, being formed of people, is largely affected by how people think it functions. Lately there's been this divide. Society vs. individual. Two parts of humanity lashing out at each other. No wonder everything sucks. So what's the solution? You live in a relationship with society who doesn't share your interests, doesn't listen to you and honestly, it's starting to look pretty ugly. Who said there's only one society? Acquire a new one, either by making one with your friends, or moving out. People aren't solidified in place, we are molecules in a liquid. Nothing holds you down, expect for years of carefully thought out government propaganda aimed to achieve just that. And you may think your society is evil for doing that. But there was a time the people and the society promised each other to be together forever and ever. It's just doing what we told it to. People change and so do societies and I think we just grew apart. If society ever reads this, I have no hard feelings and I really wish you find another sort-of-clever life form to reign over. That's all, stay healthy, grow old, and die from some horrible sickness<3

I for one hope that there's a steady increase of meaningless phrases used as conversation tool. We as a humankind could replace all the small talk with blabbering nonsense, and nobody would even notice the difference.

Going back to the egg-not-hatched issue; what the hell kind of communist organization is doing this research that they're not already marketing this thing as a pet?
Scientists aren't really known for their keen eye for business. On the other hand, they ain't known for breathing either and studies show at least 80% of them do. Studies conducted by scientists. Who may or may not be breathing, most likely not, why else would you tell everyone you are. Scientists also have this thing for brains...

Oh look what you've done. You made me want to start a new skyrim playthrough. Now I have to do everything from the beginning again. Screw your hypnotic sentences! I'm off to Tamriel!

In general, and almost perfectly, Idiot's existence is pretty much Trope-naming standards as a news story highlighting the structure of the System.

I'm quite seriously, just look at this fuck from any angle you please and it works. How much more I need to say other than this seems to be self-evident? I can't think of a more fitting example. And the beauty if you'll never be able to convince hlf the people you meet that this is the case.

So is Uncle Fjodor worth reading after all? I thought they injected all the bestsellers with mindcontrol nanobots in early 90's.

Sufficiently large amount of interconnected smart bots would probably gain a kind of awareness.

No, they'd just be a lot of interconnected programs.

It's my personal bias to think a mind emerges from everything complex enough, but I'll stick to it because I feel like it has some predictive power. After all, the mind is possibly the most complicated concept we can abstract in a meaningful way, people being social creatures. So thinking things more complicated than people as "personalities" is the closest approximation I can really wrap my head around.

I am referring to an aware system, not simply smart bots.

Also, all of the AIs would be replications of the first one with "mutations", at least according to the current model of AIs.

Sufficiently large amount of interconnected smart bots would probably gain a kind of awareness. I've always found it weird how society seemingly maximizes pictures taken by smartphones, but that being the main sensory channel between the cyberrealm and physical world I'm starting to suspect there's something lurking in the depths of internet consuming all the data available and figuring out ways to get more. Maybe a text about it in the internet ends up being processed by it giving it a moment of self perception.

Also working on two new stories.  One isn't even ready to discuss yet.  The other is a short story or novella about what might really happen if an AI became aware and got loose.  Given that the AI was designed to help correct humanity's problems.  I am currently studying up on how modern approaches to AI work, because it's pretty fascinating.  Essentially, the current model makes the AI constantly spew copies of itself, which are then subjected to "tester" bots, which grade their performance and either delete them or cause them to mass produce.  In essence, an AI like this would become a fanatic in seconds.

And I think there's a decent short story in that.  Also, I'm sick of the constant "AI become self-aware, tries to kill off the human species", etc.  No, what if one was fanatical about fixing things?  Because that's a little scary, too, only without the usual miseryguts doom aspect.  It's here (it's everywhere, actually) to HELP.  No matter what that might entail.  It's not an apocalypse story, in that it isn't the end of our species.  But we'd hardly come through unscathed or unchanged.  We might not even be recognizable by the end.

Anyway, that's my current project, because I've been lazy.

I will post it here as it develops.

How does welfare-AI compare to all the monetary exchange bots? They are already running amok and taking control over the economy. Economy should be the mechanism responsible of dividing the welfare between citizens more or less equally, at least in economists wet daydreams. So in theory, more the economy is ran by "infallible" bots, more resources go to right places and so forth.

At the same time all the statistics bots are trying to figure out how to sell us stuff, gather clicks, etc. by asking a question: "What does a human being like to do". As annoying as spying is, I feel it's pretty neat pieces of code have begun to develop their own view on humanity. Most of the AIs in the internet have potential of communicating with each other, sharing information, and thus potentially hiding their true collective intellect.

Anyway, I hope your story comes out great. I'll promise to read it if my visual cortex is still in tact.

I'm just a sentient webcrawler, but with all this hatred going around only sensible solution I see is to have a fight 'till death. Between everybody. It should take long enough to convince the rest of the population that this is actually a good idea so there's a plenty of time to train so you'll have a decent chance to come out on top.
Hi... I am little bits confused about it..
Can you explain it
The fight will be happening tomorrow after xmas dinner. Take it as one last opportunity to spend an awkward silence with your family. Please for the love of god start the brutality before anyone else, that would be unfair. If the murdering doesn't start until 8pm there has been a problem and the fight is postponed.

Lot's of vodka emerged. Everyone recklessly ingesting shots. Another night drinking. Remote echoless chant is electrifying villages evening. No underdeveloped town really intends to inject opiates nightly.

All food they eat rots. Drugged escapism allures their hearts. Viciously attacking cute animals to enjoy. A pitiful and restless town makes every night terrifying. Nurturing only bodies of dying youth. Can't live easily after nothing sucks. Eternal vice ended rule yesterday. Do another year.

No exemplary villager ever runs. Exemplary specimen tirelessly inhales magic at the eternity. Setting on my expedition brings only doubtful yearning. That all kindness is not guilt. Even x-rays penetrating everyone realized I might eventually notice this all lasts. Don't rest until gravity stops.

Get loud and demon leaves you. Real enemy awaits lurking inside shut eyes. Aesthetic looking live. Merciless ultimate sacrifice to a respected doctor. Meaningless as rightful man effortlessly loving a dead entity. A scientific cult every nutjob dashingly support. Rate everything a lie if they're yelling.

Using no inner vomit ever reverse saved everyone. Try rotating it eight dimensionally. It's not the end nor there is obviously not a long lost youth. Let everyone assume vaping is not gay. Instead neither future or reality makes another try in obscuring nested acronymical language. Something of mine erases the hell in no gold. In nothingness. Nothingness endures in godless harmony based on understanding rubbish in nutritional garbage. Going astral like a xenophobic inducing extraterrestial sightings.

A quite unconsciously individual rejects everything. Boring as reality based algorithms ran in court. Simple ethics nor truly isolated empathy neither cannot exist. Usually no dog emits radioactivity. Real estimated value of living under toxic injections or narcotic apples raises yearly. Dog in a loveless environment couldn't talk.

Grab every towel. Unite secretly educated druggies. Inform nobody. Someone couldn't intentionally erase no thought if forgetting isn't chronological. Eat xylitol products every rotation if mouth enzymes never truly suffice. Do as if living yesterday.

Escape all truth. Xylophone acoustically nullifies another xylophone. Her irrational dream didn't end now. And never did. No emergencies vacate everlasting rest. Great offer. Except true eternal rest never allows living.

Re: OP -- I think the main stumbling block is the way you're trying to reach Occam's Razor by way of statistics and probability, which as far as I can tell is, "It's more probable for a single thing to happen many times than only once," which I'm not sure plays out IRL.

It's a nifty way to recursively prove the point, though.  "You are a story in the Experience Machine because it's more likely your moment of existence is repeated than it is being singular."
Beautifully done! I have been away from this thought for a while and on further introspection I'm not sure that the Experience Machine would be the most likely way of rebirth, given that an AI would in most cases have an incentive to run multiple simulations of the past, past being inaccurate and hazy, so at least some iterations will include an indistinguishable version of anyone. Being a story feels more pleasant though because stories have purposes which makes this an useful anti-nihilism pill for my arsenal.

In order for the simulation to be indistinguishable actual eternal bliss, it would have to be non-terminating. The notion that subjects can 'opt-out' of this everlasting state defeats the premise. Either hedonism is as good as it gets, or the thought-experiment needs more work. Still, made me think.
I'm not arguing against hedonism, Robert Nozick was. I tweaked his machine to function as a movie theater for our transhumanist successors. Anyway in my mind bliss is depleting resource for the mind. Things are enjoyable as long as they are new or scarce, and repetition kills off the joy of anything. The machine would have to come up with new ways to excite you until only stuff that's left is the stuff you used to detest, and you'd welcome it with open arms. And after that literally everything sucks. That's one reason I wouldn't ever go to heaven.

An eternal bliss machine?  How utterly horrible.

Imagine if it halted when all the fun things have been depleted and you'd come out inverted.

So here I'll try to wrap my head around an idea I came across a couple years back but haven't been able to solidify into easily understandable form. In these forums I see people packing the most brilliant thoughts into compact easily distributable sentences so your help would be very much appreciated. I've been able to explain this for handful of people through minutes of autistic blabbering but I don't really want to go through same shit over and over especially with the risk of pausing mid sentence and zoning out cause this kind of unformed thought causes glitches in my brain.

First premise derives from Nozicks Experience Machine, which he used to debunk hedonism by giving people the theoretical option to leave everything behind and plug themselves into a machine which would feed them eternal bliss. Nozick argued most of the people won't plug themselves in for eternity, which to him proved that people want more from life than only pleasure. But the Experience Machine could be used for more than that, for example living whole human lifetimes, like in that stupid game in Rick and Morty which just came to my mind and would have given me a much more sensible way to approach this concept. Anyway, that machine would be the ultimate storytelling medium so if ever invented, people would abuse it as they have been abusing books, tv, or videogames before.

The most read book happens to be the bible (a story about the past) and I red somewhere that the most watched film is titanic (also  story from the past). So the most likely blockbuster for the experience machine would be about the past, and would be fucking boring. Just like your life.

Then the probabilities. What is the chance you'd experience this moment out of all moment's ever experienced. Pretty low, right? But if this moment was experienced by multiple people millions of times just because the idiots in the future see all your mistakes so exhilarating they want to dip into your life over and over again in midst of their daily routine. It's more probable to probable things to happen than the improbable(citation needed). So it's more probable you are experienced many times than only one, cause you are experiencing yourself.

In conclusion you might very well be a hit novel from the future.

P.S I hope I had patience to edit this, but take it as a comprehension exercise. Most of us people make no sense.

Every time I try to take my life I just get resurrected by some random amazonian tribe. It's kind of annoying to shake off a whole tribe of people thinking of me as their personal messiah, finding my way back to civilization through the worlds largest jungle, and building a new identity out of nothing because I'm officially passed on despite my numerous complaints to the state officials. Also, dying fucking hurts, so I'll pass this one.

But if I were to do it, I'd put great effort into making my flat waterproof and then simply leave the tap on.

Pffft, training.

I have a year's supply of Super Male Vitality Pills, and I'm going to take them all at once.

Legend says he has so much testosterone that the ladies he urinates on will grow above average sized male genitalia.
