MysticWicks endorsement: "I've always, always regarded the Discordians as being people who chose to be Discordians because they can't be arsed to actually do any work to develop a relationship with a specific deity, they were too wishy-washy to choose just one path, and they just want to be a mishmash of everything and not have to work at learning about rituals or traditions or any such thing as that."

I'm not an atheist.

Because being something indicates a set of values and beliefs, as PZ Myers has pointed out before.

I just say, "There is no god", and go on with my life.

I think I do have a set of values and beliefs, though I am not overly rigid about most of them.  But I am pretty much what your last line states anyway, Kai.

Oh, I have a set of values and beliefs. I just don't think they fall under the label 'atheist' as it is used today. And I don't care to cast myself into the great Sea of Argument under that guise. I think it's a waste of my time.

Naturalist? Now that's a label I can get under. Not that I describe myself as such, I just think it's more akin to my interests than the aforementioned atheist label. It also describes my scientific interests as well (as in, Darwin was a naturalist).

When I was in about 2nd or 3rd grade, people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I said, "a naturalist."

True story.

I don't self-identify as an atheist for similar reasons. It just gives people the wrong idea. I may not believe in god and the supernatural, but I don't think such beliefs preclude one from being a decent human being. That's what "Atheist" seems to convey.

I'm a pedantheist, which means I will religiously argue over the definition of whether an atheist and somebody that doesn't believe in God is or is not actually being religious or not basing their ideas on evidence or belief, maybe, strictly, from a contrarian point of view.

:lulz:

Maybe you can explain the difference between someone who does believe that God doesn't exist and someone who doesn't believe that God does exist.  I have seen several instances of people trying to split that hair.  It seems to be point is a crucial distinction between different types of atheism.

The first one involves having a belief, and the other one doesn't, necessarily.

The second one can then be broken down further into at least two more categories:

1.) people who believe that the existence or non-existence of a god is inherently unknowable
2.) people who don't believe that they have enough information to determine whether the existence or non-existence of a god is inherently unknowable or not

One is an assumption, the second is closer to proper analysis and deduction.

After watching a few of her videos I can honestly say that girl is incredibly well spoken and capable of speaking on athiesm without using the language of absolutes that the militant athiests use. I'm impressed and that has nothing to do with how beautiful she looks.

I agree.

I know several atheists IRL, and none of them speak in absolutes.  All of the militant atheists I know, I only know through the internet.

Here's my question to you atheists: If god doesn't exist .... who wrote the bible?

Think about that one, she tells us, think about it.

She MUST be trolling.  It's the only conclusion I'm ok with.

If she's not then my one comfort is that she is a she and can only produce just so many offspring in a lifetime.

Since neither of them really debate, Hovind because he's running material and this guy because he's smart enough not to try, they could just have a jailhouse tussle. My money's on the new guy, he's stylish!

I'm afraid you'll have to be not okay, then.  I know for a fact that there are those out there who don't believe that they can make decisions on their own, it's God that makes them make those decisions, after they pray for guidance. It stands to reason people actually think God wrote the bible.

And before we jump down that sewer, I'm not specifically meaning "Look what he MADE me do," it's more like "God made me make the right decision of not beating the ever loving snot out of my child when he he talked back to me."

Guys, you're missing the point.  Think about it, just think about it.

Don't actually come to any conclusions, or critically examine the statement.  You think you're so smart, don't you?  Just think about it.

Also, I was having a very strange dream, but that's not important.

You know something?  You're right.  Now let's hear about that dream, too, I bet it makes sense if you talk it out.
